DALLAS, TEXAS, USA – OCT 1, 2018 – Geoforce, a global provider of field asset tracking solutions, introduces an innovative product that aims to solve indoor, and obstructed-view, GPS tracking issues within current satellite-based GPS traceability products. The Geoforce Gateway enhances asset tracking functionality by providing an alternative cellular data path when data transmission over a satellite network isn’t possible. This pioneering accessory integrates with the Geoforce GT1 and GT0 satellite asset trackers, using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to improve communications between the device and tracking software when assets move indoors. The Geoforce Gateway enables the use of Geoforce’s Track and Trace software platform with numerous assets previously un-trackable with GPS.
“When faced with problems surrounding field equipment traceability that moves indoors, we needed a better solution for customers using our GT1 and GT0 satellite-based asset tracking devices,” explained John Robertson, Vice President of Product Management & Quality. “As such, we set out to develop a product that could overcome these concerns.”
A recent Geoforce Gateway field trial with an oil field services provider was a complete success – reporting 100 percent of the tracked assets from outdoors to indoors. Geoforce monitored reporting schedules every day of the trial period and never encountered a single fault or missed reading.
Aptly named for what it does, the Geoforce Gateway significantly improves indoor visibility for GPS-tagged assets that otherwise report infrequently, or not at all, due to poor and obstructed sky views. Its near real-time asset entry notifications appear in the Geoforce Track and Trace platform – a SaaS solution that enables field operations managers to view their assets, equipment, and vehicles whenever and wherever.
