Geoforce, Inc., a global leader in equipment “track and trace” and asset utilization solutions for the oil and gas industry, announced the appointment today of Mark Slaughter to the company’s Board Of Directors, as well as Roopa K. Misra as Senior Vice President of Customer Operations. The appointments are effective December 9, 2013, and January 6, 2014, respectively.
“The flexibility to aggressively recruit the very best talent to our organization was a key driver behind our decision last fall to accept the first equity investment financing in our history,” said James MacLean III, President & CEO of Geoforce. “Mark Slaughter and Roopa Misra both share our vision and have experience deploying technology-enabled services into the oil and gas industry on a global scale.”
Mr. Slaughter is currently the CEO and President of Houston-based RigNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNET), a leading global provider of managed remote communications solutions to the oil and gas industry. Under Mr. Slaughter’s leadership, RigNet has grown from a start-up business to become a public company providing services to a third of the world’s offshore drilling rigs. He has more than 30 years of experience in the energy, telecommunications and remote communications industries, having served in executive and management roles at Halliburton Company, Reliant Energy, United Technologies and Stratos Global Corporation. Mr. Slaughter received an A.B. from Harvard College and an MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.
“There are many similarities between Geoforce and RigNet’s business models, particularly our commitment to supporting offshore and international markets and our shared belief that success in oil and gas technology services rests on a strong local commitment and customer support that exceeds expectations,” said Mr. Slaughter. “My experiences at RigNet will allow me to provide strategic and practical guidance as Geoforce pursues a high growth trajectory in the coming years.”
Prior to Geoforce, Ms. Misra was VP of Global Account Management at Triple Point Technology, the leading provider of in-cloud and on-premise commodity management software for end-to-end commodity and energy value chains. At Triple Point, she built and led a global account management organization that supported more than 350 customers on six continents. Ms. Misra made tremendous contributions in helping Triple Point manage key customers around the world and scale the business from approximately $19 million to over $180 million in revenue during her tenure from 2002 to 2013.
At Geoforce, Ms. Misra will have responsibility for the entire post-sale customer experience provided to Geoforce’s global customer base. These include Account Management, Customer Support, Fulfillment, Field Services and Project Management. She will be based in Geoforce’s soon-to-be-opened Houston office.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Geoforce team. Geoforce is poised to experience the same kind of growth that Triple Point experienced the past few years, which is one of the main things that attracted me to the company,” said Ms. Misra. “We will focus our attention on the crucial three R’s of customer service: retention, references, and revenue, as we leverage Geoforce’s fast growing roster of 300+ existing customers within the oil and gas industry.”
